Abstract
Environmental Education (EE) has changed direction over time, now seeking the active participation of citizens in the context of sustainable development. Declaratory texts of international meetings on environmental education highlight the potential of Mass Media to serve this purpose and at the same time express concerns about how environmental information will be transferred to the public. The educational dimension of media associated with remodeling of sensitized citizens’ behavior through the diffusion of scientific information to the public, generates discussion on how environmental issues are raised, are understood and subject of public debate.
