Abstract
The present study attempted to investigate the training needs of teachers on issues related to the support of Roma students inclusion in education. Another subject of this research was the degree of their intercultural adequacy and readiness as well as their views on the topics and the key characteristics of an effective training programme for Roma education. To investigate the above, the qualitative research methodology was adopted and the data was collected through semi-structured interviews with ten teachers.
The findings of the survey found that teachers are not sufficiently trained in intercultural education and they need to be educated for issues related to daily life at school and teaching practice. Their answers also showed that they face a variety of difficulties in practicing their educational work, the main ones being the inability to find suitable teaching materials and to implement practices for the management of cultural diversity and the management of conflicts.
