Teaching a foreign language using podcasts. Creative uses and suggestions

Abstract

Teachers in authentic ways can engage learners in the foreign language and with a creative and original disposition to proceed to new options. By offering an effective educational context and flexible ways of accessing and engaging with material they are motivated for a critical approach to the foreign language (Hall, Meyer & Rose, 2012). Podcasts can enrich vocabulary, improve communication skills and pronunciation, and present elements of foreign language culture (Tyrou, 2023). This paper presents ideas and theoretical approaches for effective foreign language teaching and creative adult education and suggests ways of using audio podcasts in the foreign language classroom to improve various skills, increase motivation for immediate learning, and make meaning in real communication situations.
