Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of applying the method of creative thinking “Six Thinking Hats” of Edward de Bono in online distance teachers training. The survey dealt with the online distance teachers training “Learning by Six Thinking Hats” which was implemented during the school year 2012-2013 by the Directorate of Secondary Education in the Perfecture of Drama, the Democritus University of Thrace and the Interorthodox Center of the Church of Greece in the asynchronous learning platformhttp://elearning.didedra.gr/ of Directorate of Secondary Education in the Perfecture of Drama. The main findings of the study highlight the importance of applying the method of “Six Thinking Hats” in online teachers training. The method application has a positive effect on emotional, social, metacognitive goals and less on cognitive and changing attitudes objectives. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of innovative application of De Bono theory of “Six Thinking Hats” in online teachers training showing the way for further research.
