Abstract
In this paper the terms and practice of leadership and management in schools are investigated, through literature review. What is observed a connection of leadership with vision, influence exercise, values, coordination of all structures and people, goals accomplishment through cooperation and assistance provision. On the other head, management is associated with the administration of resources in order to achieve mainly short-term objectives and results and with the functions of planning, organization, administration and control activities. This joint examination reveals a necessity not only for leaders with managing abilities to emerge in education but also managers with features suitable for a leader.
