Abstract
Education constitutes a long term investment on Human Resources and a primary pillar of both financial and social growth. Within this framework, the quest of implementing quality in Education in the Hellenic territory is of primary importance. Since 2002 there have been a number of efforts to include procedures of evaluating the educational outcome in schools and promote the quality of educational services. The 2013-2014 school year was when school-self-evaluation procedures commenced and with the latest n.4547 Law of 2018 a new framework on scheduling and validating educational procedures is being implemented.
The present essay aims at investigating into the new framework as seen through the total Quality Management Principles. Initially, a delimitation of the concepts of Quality and Total Quality Management is being attempted. The Deming Theory is further examined as well as its’ implementation on Education and School Self-Evaluation.
The concept of Quality in the Hellenic Educational System is being examined and alternative procedures of importing evaluation and self-evaluation techniques are further considered under the TQM theories.
