Abstract
Modern school plays a much wider role than the one it used to play inthe past. The students are not only seen as recipients of cognitive information also the teachers are not only expected to be knowledge providers. The tasks of a teacher include efforts to develop each student not only mentally, but also emotionally and socially. The school principal’s choice of a proper communication model and a personal leadership style, influences and shapes the pedagogical and psychological climate of the school community. The improvement of quality and success of the school unit is primarily based on its leadership. The principal’s ability to meet the requirements of their leading role relies not only on their willingness to take up this responsibility but also to what extent they have the necessary skills to do so. Modern research accurately identifies the skills which characterize the person with distinct performance on this field. The new criterion shows the importance of having social and emotional skills. Therefore, the principal should know how to effectively use social and emotional education techniques in order to ensure classroom and school management, to promote teachers’ efficiency and to effectively solve the problems of school life.
