Abstract
This article provides a brief overview of the seminar on “Challenges in the Age of Digital Transition: Schools as Learning Organizations”, organized by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 9 April 2021, online. It was a meeting that highlighted the challenges associated with digital transformation brought by COVID-19, but also a step towards discussing the impact of digital transformation on school education systems. At the same time, the organization of schools in terms of leadership, collaborative work and professional development of teachers, innovative teaching techniques and changes in the curriculum were discussed. In the frame of the seminar, keynote speeches and discussions were made in sessions (breakout rooms). Significant conclusions have been drawn which can contribute to the prospect of recovery in an action plan for digital education in the European Union 2021-2027.
