Abstract
Mentoring is an old practice that has been applied in many traditional jobs since antiquity to date, mostly with positive results. This paper presents the principles underlying its application in the field of education, the conditions of implementation, the role of the mentor, as well as the relationships that are created between him and the guided one. At the same time, we present proposals for the implementation of mentoring in Greek educational reality. This work is based on bibliographical references as well as on elements derived from the authors’ experience as teachers and as School Counselors. The main objective is to set guidelines for those who want to implement mentoring and benefit from it as a guidance practice.
