Abstract
As interest in online education continues to grow, research is now focusing on ways in which quality of learning can be assured. Teachers seem to play an important role. The purpose of this literature review is to explore the teaching approaches and role of teachers in online learning environments, the principles and methods that govern their teaching, and the factors that influence their choices. The results show that teachers prefer student-centered approaches that favor the development of social relationships and cooperation. The role of the teacher is quite important, providing support and ensuring effective learning through his actions.
