Using literary texts with the objective of disability and special educational needs in primary school

Abstract

In this current article ten (10) literary books with reference to disability/special educational needs, which are addressed to primary school students, were selected based on criteria such as politically correct language of texts, direct connection of the plot with the specific theme, the positive role of the literary character with disability / special educational needs and the appropriate way of approaching the reader depending on his / her age. Finally, teaching proposals were created according to critical literacy approach with the objective of sensitizing students’ awareness of disability/ special educational needs.
