The Role of KEDASY-SDEY in the Diagnosis, Counseling, and Support of Students. Opinions and Assessments of Primary Education Teachers.

Abstract

This study examines the perceptions and experiences of primary education teachers regarding the role and effectiveness of the Centers for Diagnosis, Counseling, and Support (KEDASY) and the School Networks for Educational Support (SDEY) in providing assistance to students with special educational needs. Through qualitative research and in-depth interviews with teachers working in collaboration with these structures, the study analyzes the practical application of the services, the challenges faced, and their impact on the school community.
The results show that teachers recognize the importance of the specialized support provided by KEDASY-SDEY, but they point out significant problems such as understaffing, inadequate funding, the complexity of referral procedures, and bureaucratic obstacles, which often delay students’ access to necessary interventions. At the same time, the need for strengthening communication and collaboration between teachers, parents, and support organizations is highlighted, as well as the continuous professional development of teachers in the field of special education.
