School Bullying and Dropout – Interdependent Relationship?

Abstract

Both school bullying and truancy are complex social issues. The relevant studies and school everyday life highlight their dynamic and complex relationship. At the same time it becomes evident that simplistic ideas and piecemeal solutions are not sufficient to deal with them. Understanding the mechanisms that link school bullying to dropout and delving into the causes of dropout in the light of school bullying is a critical issue in preventing the consequences of both school bullying and dropout. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationships between school bullying and student dropout in order to understand the interaction mechanism of the two phenomena.
