Proposal of an educational changes model to face school violence

Abstract

Being an important part of the broader social system, school is converted to a daily recipient of intense developments in the socio-economic, cultural and technological field. The 21st century is plagued by the phenomenon of economic crisis, which creates social inequalities. Being permeable to such socio-economic redistributions, the educational system is affected, showing elation of intense student aggression outbreaks. This paper addresses the issue, by presenting a managing plan of educational changes, that can help tackle the problem. Furthermore, the need for change is highlighted, while the problem of school violence requires immediate intervention with enduring power. It turns out, then, through this study, that in order to achieve this timelessness and bend any of the resistances, there should be a balanced cooperation between those who create educational policy and those who have to implement it. School leaders will play an important role as creators of a vision for an autonomous organization, disengaged from traditional structures and carrier of educational changes, adapted to contemporary reality. Choosing a model of evolutionary change and particularly of the twelve steps, the reader understands, through concrete proposals, the changes – measures that can be implemented by a headmaster in order to face cases of violence at his school. This study, therefore, is an optimistic message that school is capable of coping with social problems by implementing educational changes that last through the years and have positive results.
