Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a successful change design and introduction in a public junior high school. Although scientific methods of internal changes are not generally adopted in Greek schools, the delay of after-school support teaching by the Ministry of Education due to the economic crisis, made a school leader initiate volunteer courses, by following specific steps, thus implementing change with significant results. First, the theoretical aspects of change and the stakeholders’ strategy for the effective management of change are explored by using Lim’s balanced model of action research. It is a mixed method, which improves the quality of the research and results a rich data collection reinforcing validity. Additionally, it offers a collective, flexible and active solution of the problem, since the stakeholders themselves have introduced the changes. The paper concludes with acknowledgement that significant factors, especially leadership which applies to real school needs, are key to achieving implementation success and constant improvement of education
