Educator’s Emotional Intelligence in Second Chance Schools for Adults

Abstract

 

The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of emotional intelligence of educators in Second Chance Schools in the municipality of Thessaloniki. More specifically, the effects of age and gender on emotional intelligence were examined. Participants (N=45) completed a standardized questionnaire and some of them (N=6) participated in an interview. Results indicated that there is statistically important connection between emotional intelligence and sex (p.<.05) but there is not statistically important connection between emotional intelligence and age (p.>.05). Additionally, several relevant methodological and theoretical aspects were discussed and new directions for future research were yielded.
