Abstract
This paper investigates the contribution of the involvement of shared decision making in the improvement of school quality and effectiveness. By using the method of interviewing, five school principals of secondary education refer to a) the quality of shared decision making b) the acceptance of shared decision making from the members of the school and the commitment this decision implies and c) the trust as a pre-condition of shared decision making. Based on the findings the role of school principal is considered quite significant in the practice of the participatory management. It is also found that the procedure of shared decision ensures active participation of teachers, cooperation, understanding of targets and also commitment to implementation of decisions.
