Abstract
The modern school, called to operate in accordance with the principles of inclusive education, including students with special educational needs (SEN), creates new training needs for teachers. In the present study, the views and training needs of the Secondary Education teachers of the prefectures of Heraklion and Rethymno regarding the inclusion of students with SENin the general school are investigated.The quantitative methodology was utilized for the implementation of the research, by providing an electronic questionnaire to the teachers. The most important results of the study include the positive view of the majority of teachers regarding the inclusion of students with SEN in general school.In addition, the need for in-service training emerges, and in fact with a mandatory nature, for all teachers in the field of Special Education, while teachers show a high degree of interest in training in all topics proposed by the researchers. For their training in the E.E.A., the teachers of the sample consider the experiential and participatory techniques to be more appropriate.
