Planning training activities for philologists

Abstract

The present qualitive study aims to outline educational actions which harmonize with Greek teachers’ educational needs. Research questions concerns to the desirable content and structure of educational projects, along with the obstacles that obstruct participation. Responses were collected from a sample of 16 Language teachers using the semi-structured interview and that was a convenience sampling. Regarding the preferences of those asked relatively to the ideal educational project, this should relate to teaching techniques, as well as psychological educational thematic units of median duration that apply mainly experimental and cooperative educational techniques. Also, the programs offered should be blended and during working hours. In addition, there was a positive response to the peer assessment process, while the sample appeared skeptical about mentoring faction. Finally, it was showed that factors which deter participation in offered in-service educational programs relate mainly to organizational obstacles.
