Abstract
Based on learning outcomes as an indicator of an effective school, this article examines the notions of instructional leadership, school climate and culture probing the relevant literature. It depicts the relationships and interactions among them underlining the common grounds- the contribution of instructional leadership to the formulation of school climate and culture. Next, considering the contemporary educational policies, it attempts to contextualize them in the Greek educational context. The study ends up with suggestions about how instructional leadership could be employed in school units.
