The New generation in Greece today: education, training, employment and inequalities

Abstract

The present study deals with the issue of youth in the context of their education, training and employment in Greece. The existing concerns about the role of youth should be continued in order to provide high quality employment for young people that responds to their needs and aspirations. This takes place at a period of time when young people face increasing challenges in terms of their transition to adulthood, precariousness, uncertainty and insecurity. At a time when youth employment is more than ever needed to support and empower young people to explore their potential, many Member States restrict or reduce support to them using as an excuse the rising demand and competition for limited resources and the announced need to implement austerity measures.
