Abstract
In the present study, an econometric multiple regression model is presented which examines the effect of academia on the quality of electoral democracy in Greece. The Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) database as announced in 2022 was used. The time series from 1974 to 2022 were examined. The results include the positive effect of universities’ freedom from politically motivated surveillance and their institutional autonomy on quality of our electoral democracy.
