Career counseling, vocational guidance & counseling psychology in vulnerable groups: the case of NEETs

Abstract

The demands of the modern labor market as well as the financial crisis have led to an increase in people who, for various reasons, have been out of education, training and work, the so-called NEETs. The insecurity that occupies them can cause effects on health, fertility, crime and endanger social cohesion, while the economic effects are also important. In this paper, an approach and characterization of this group is made based on bibliographic references and the application of appropriate professional guidance and counseling is proposed so that they re-enter not only the workplace, but also to the society. All countries should invest on education and social care so as all the persons who are in these positions would be able to evolve.
