Τraining as a means of development and professional upgrade of primary school teachers: Their perceptions, views and preferences

Abstract

Teacher training is an institution of highly strategically importance and an integral part of a continuous and ongoing professional and personal development of teachers. It is a process that must be formed and designed by the teachers themselves who own and experience the daily life of the educational process. In this way, it is possible to combine the relevant scientific theory with daily training practice in schools. In the present research attempted to investigate the training needs and teaching techniques through the opinions and suggestions of teachers of Primary Schools of Grevena. Using an anonymous written questionnaire there has been a recording of the educational discourse on teaching learning and training and have been highlighted the views of teachers for daily teaching practice. Collateral purpose of research was the gathering of useful and useable data from those who will be involved in the planning and the implementation of training programs. Teachers are demonstrated to be strong supporters of the use of new technologies and the Internet in teaching as well as of the participative educational techniques. Teachers recommend their training to be having targets anthropocentric, lifelong, suitably designed for the Greek educational reality and based on the vision for better education.
