Problems and difficulties of theatre educators in Primary Education. A case study

Abstract

Teachers are faced with ever-increasing challenges in the workplace, revealing a wide range of problems related either to themselves, to the students or to their teaching performance. The view that the problems of teachers should be taken into account in improving teaching has been expressed repeatedly in the literature. The purpose of this article is to present the data collected from research to theatre educators working in the regional unit of Crete in relation to the factors which impede the performance of their educational work. The evaluation of the data was based on the content analysis method and the collection tool was semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the problems in this sector mainly concern the building and logistics infrastructure, the factors related to special education practices and the very short duration of the course.
