Principles of intercultural education and considerations for teaching practice: a teaching scenario for the refugee child

Abstract

The present study is based on theoretical considerations for intercultural education and their utilization in teaching practice. Consists of two parts. The first part is the theoretical part and in which some principles of intercultural education from the literature are expressed, as well as concerns and challenges in their application in educational practice. The second part is the practical part and includes a teaching scenario on the subject of the refugee child. In the scenario, according to the reflections from the theoretical part, the arts are used to create empathy, and experiential activities with dialogue practices and active involvement in them.
